Description:

This polygon dataset represents property parcels the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) has interest in. Property Types can be Fee Simple where WPC owns the land surface, or Sub-Surface where WPC only owns a resource right, or Easement where WPC has a conservation easement on the land. If the parcel has a Past Property Type (PastPropType) “Past Fee Simple” that means that WPC owned the parcel in the past and has transferred the property to another owner while retaining an interest in the property in the form of either a conservation easement or ownership of the sub-surface rights. These properties are now called “Current Easement with Past Fee Simple” or “Current Sub-Surface with Past Fee Simple”. If the Past Property Type field states “None (Reviewed)” this means that the property files have been reviewed to determine that WPC did not ever own the property in the past, if the field is “<Null>” that indicates that the property files has not been reviewed.

The Status field indicates the current condition of WPC ownership. 1 or Current means WPC has a legal ownership of the land, a resource right, or easement. There can be a Current property with a Past Property Type status of “Past Fee Simple”, “None (Reviewed), or “<Null>”. 2 or Past means the WPC has transferred all ownership rights; often times to State of Federal agencies to create State Game Land, State Forest, or State Park. Historic Estimation (3) represents a property in which limited location data is available. 4 Prospective Property are tracts WPC are evaluating. 5 Inactive Property are lands that WPC has decided not to pursue. 6 Property for Review are lands that WPC have been presented for evaluation.”
